Un-unification of the United States
Since the beginning of time there was always some form of order or hierarchy. As each level in the hierarchy power joined, the members seemed to grow apart. The KKK is notorious for its hate against people of African descent. Then there are Democrats and Republicans, who seem to work not for the constituents, but the party they represent. Bringing it home even closer is within the schools. People who have money many times do not associate with a lower income class unless it is to simply bully them around. If a kid doesn’t have the right clothes or talk the right way they are often shunned from a social circle (Palmer and Palmer). These are only a few examples in today’s society. If a person were to take a closer look they would see that the examples are endless leading to the theory that due to society’s pack mentalities, cynicism, and its fear of advancement the U.S. has entered a time of un-unification.
The use of pack mentalities has brought an era of un-unification to the U.S. A young man named Douglas sat down in a theater by himself, ready to enjoy a film. A group of people walk into the theater. Douglas knew these people as they all attended his high school. He smiled ad waved at them as they entered attempting to be polite. The group ignored him as they searched for seats. There was an open row next to him, but being from a different clique at school they decided to shove an elderly couple down the row so they would have enough seats to sit down together. An individual can draw from this example that with the mentality of a pack, that anyone part of one is closely knit with the other. Ideally no one enters the pack or no one leaves. Yet, a deeper look at psychology shows that many people within a pack will still only work for themselves, looking down at new thoughts (Peiring).
Along with the pack mentalities, society’s cynicism has contributed to a time of divergence. As stated in the last paragraph, selfishness exists in many Americans. This causes a closing of the minds. With minds closed people cannot unify as they are separated by beliefs, conceptions, and thoughts. If a majority of the U.S. is in such a state many people are not able to voice out a new opinion without it instantly being shot down. With new views and intelligence incapable to be shared advancement of today’s world is next to impossible. This brings to mind the one thing that has contributed most to this phenomenon.
The biggest player on the field of conflict may be society’s fear of advancement. Drawing from the previous points in this paper it is quite obvious that society is trapped within their own groups and their own mindsets. Society trying to step out of a mindset means that people have to step out of their established comfort zone. With logic and reasoning it is quite evident that stepping out of a comfort zone can cause fear. If minds are all blocked off from anyone outside our own group then America, the human race, cannot advance. Without advancement nothing is left to bring this nation together.
In conclusion, a span of un-unification among the U.S has become evident due to the cynicism of society, its pack mentalities, and its fear of advancement. With the points presented here, it is obvious that a time of growing apart has arrived. If the United States cannot stand together, it shall fail not only as a society, but as a nation. As Abraham Lincoln once said, A house divided against itself cannot stand (“A House Divided”).

Notes: I hate when that happens…. All this wasted paper!!!!
